Hundreds of helping hands will be needed in East Lansing June 8-13 to provide hospitality at the 2016 Annual Conference.
During the week of June 8-13, 2016, hundreds of welcoming volunteers are needed to make Annual Conference a productive and pleasant experience for over 2,500 clergy and lay leaders attending from across Michigan.
This historic gathering of the West Michigan and Detroit Annual Conferences will take place on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing.
For these six days in June, you are invited to be a significant part of this celebration by becoming a member of the Michigan Area GRACE PATROL. The GRACE PATROL is the hospitality ministry of the Annual Conference Program Committee.
Most of the 2,500 people arriving in East Lansing will be visiting MSU for the very first time. We want to assure their visit is a positive one. Many participants will be outside of their traditional comfort zones. Smiling faces, words of assurance, and immediate access to knowledgeable hosts and guides all contribute to God’s giving grace. Such grace will be an all important factor in assuring that this event is successful.
There are 65 morning, afternoon and evening shifts to be filled each and every day at Michigan State. Up to 200 volunteers a day will be needed to fill those 1200 shifts during the week of Annual Conference.
Each shift is 5.5 hours in length, which includes a 30 minute arrival, check-in and update time. The Annual Conference Program Committee will thank volunteers with a complimentary meal at the Brody Commons (before or after their shift).
Persons living within 45 minutes of East Lansing and Michigan State University are asked to consider sharing this volunteer opportunity with your congregations. Please encourage those with the gift of hospitality to contribute to this effort of making people feel at home.
Simply choose the shifts that work for you and the host position that most interests you. To sign up as a volunteer member of the GRACE PATROL, please find the enrollment form here. Simply click on a job and a description of that role will appear below the list. To sign up for that job just click “add” and it will be put in your list. Individuals may select one or several jobs. Once a job is added to the list, the available shifts for that particular job appear on the calendar below. A shift may then be chosen.
Note that you must click the “Submit Button” at the bottom of the online form for your enrollment to be processed. Please register by May 20. Thank you.
